THE WORLD IS MY PALETTE | NEW CASTLE, NH
I was in Portsmouth, NH. I had scheduled customer visits that would start at 9:00am. But is was now 5am. and I had other work to do. My friend Brian told me about a park I should visit. I had brought some gear and now armed with coffee, I headed up the road to New Castle. I really had no idea what I might find, which is usually the case, so I drove around the park until I came across this beautiful statue. The statue is made from metal and the silhouette of the painter and his palette has been cut-out, revealing whatever is behind the statue. In this case, it was the early morning predawn, the lighthouse and the gorgeous colors in the sky. I love this image on so many different levels. The interpretations can change constantly, given time of day, weather and activities in the harbor. For me the moment was magical. My curiosity, patience and willingness to wake-up early and experience the world waking-up was more than rewarding. THE WORLD IS MY PALETTE placed 1st in a national photography competition sponsored by Westcott Lighting.
